Rawlings exposes Prez Mills, says his administration is weak

Audrey Micah, Ghanadot

Accra. March 30, Ghanadot - Jerry John Rawlings, former President, has stated that he is not pleased with the way President John Mills is running the country. He said, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is not affirming itself as the ruling party thereby allowing the opposition to undermine its authority.

Mr. Rawlings accused President Mills of having failed to deliver on his promise of providing dynamic leadership for the nation, adding that the President Mills had surrounded himself with people who were taking advantage of his slow approach to the running of the state.

Former president Rawlings said the above to media men after a crunch meeting of NDC party executives in Accra.

He said the view he held was one that was shared by a number of party executives and thus was a sign of worry about the situation of governance of the state.

“We are not asserting our sense of morality we are not climbing onto the high moral ground that the people voted for. Things are very slow but it is worse than being slow. Some of the things are just going in the wrong direction”.

When asked about his opinion on the appointments made so far by President Mills, the ex-President said “There is quite a bit of mediocrity… I think the party is aware of the problems and the party must make sure its voice is heard.

“They have got to be a lot more assertive they’ve got to remind people who’ve been elected that they are not independent candidates. They were elected on the platform of the party.”
