Accra, Sept 26, Ghanadot -
President John Evans Atta Mills
at the weekend expressed interest in a court case in London
that led to the conviction of a British Company,
Mabey and Johnson, for
making corrupt payments to some Ghanaian public officials.
The President has therefore directed the Attorney General
and Minister of Justice, Mrs. Betty Mould Iddrisu to request
for detailed information about the case.
This was contained in a statement signed by Mr. J.H.M Newman, Chief of Staff
in Accra.
Mabey and Johnson and its directors,
according to the statement, pleaded guilty to making
the payment that caused their
conviction.
According to the statement, the directive would facilitate
the course of action on the matter to include investigations
in Ghana.
The President restated his commitment to ensuring the
highest standard of integrity, probity and transparency in
the conduct of public officials including himself.
