NPP will come Back-Nana Akuffo Addo
Audrey Micah, Ghanadot

Accra, Jan 13, Ghanadot - The New Patriotic Party flag-bearer for the December 2008 election, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo,has expressed the conviction that the party would be back to power in 2012 when fresh elections are held.

His vision was premised on what he termed as former president Kufuor's legacy, including good governance. He noted that the former President gave a good account of himself as the Head of State for the past eight years, buttressing his claim with the numerous achievements of the NPP government under the leadership of the immediate past President.

He said with a high degree of confidence, "the party is not going to fail. It will definitely come back to assume the reigns of power in the next four years. We shall be back".

The flag-bearer of the NPP told the nation that "the party ought to secure Ghana as a free and truly democratic nation."

Nana Akufo-Addo made these observations at, a thanksgiving service at the Trade Fair Centre, La in Accra, Saturday.

The service was organised by the NPP to express appreciation to the Almighty God for protecting the party and its supporters before, during and after the December elections. It also served as a platform to give thanks to God for seeing the nation through another round of successful and relatively peaceful elections.

Nana Addo prayed for peaceful coexistence among the entire Ghanaian society for effective national development and called for unity among party members, saying it would make them resilient to enable them to come back to power.

He expressed his gratitude to the Almighty for protecting and leading Kufuor to steer the affairs of the nation in such a mature and successful manner for eight good years.

Former President Kufuor was full of thanks to the Creator for His guidance and care throughout his eight-year stewardship. He said the party would continue to champion the freedom and justice of every individual in the country, and thanked Ghanaians for giving him and the NPP the opportunity to serve them for the past eight years.

In a sermon, Reverend Professor Appiah-Poku of the Kwame Nkrtimah University of Science and Technology advised the supporters not to be discouraged but have faith in God for a better luck in future.

Rev. Appiah-Poku, who drew lessons from the scriptures suggesting that people who persevered always succeeded, urged members of the party to fight on to enable them emerge victorious in subsequent elections.

He said the defeat of the party in the December 28, 2008 general elections I should not dampen their spirit and belief, in the party's ability to wrest back political power in the country.

He called on supporters to observe the democratic credentials of the NPP by remaining calm and tolerance, even in the face of provocation.

Hundreds of supporters, clad in the party's paraphernalia who thronged the Trade Fair Centre to partake in the service, were full of jubilation, arguing that in their opinion, their candidate was robbed of victory by the inability of the Electoral Commission to delve properly into the many cases of voter fraud that occurred in the stronghold of the National Democratic Congress, even , after evidence in the form of police , reports were submitted to it.
