NPP holds rally at Koforidua
Koforidua, Jan. 22, Ghanadot/GNA - Hundreds of
supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Wednesday
thronged the Koforidua Jackson’s park to attend the
party’s thanksgiving rally.
They started arriving at the venue at 1000 hours wearing
party paraphernalia amidst singing party songs led by
the Koforidua Presbyterian Church Brass Band.
Speaker after speaker thanked God for how far He had
brought the nation and the peace being enjoyed in the
country.
Mr Hackman Owusu Agyemang, the Member of Parliament for
New Juaben North, advised all supporters of the party to
stand firm, unite and to rally behind the party.
He said the executive of the party would do all they
could to break the “no go area jinx of Volta Region” in
the next general election.
Mr Owusu Agyemang was quick to add that the Eastern
Region, being the home area of the party’s presidential
candidate, did not do well hence their inability to win
the election.
He therefore urged them to go and propagate all the
positive achievements of the NPP government during its
eight-year reign so that come 2012 Ghanaians would
return the party to party.
The General Secretary of the party, Nana Ohene Ntow,
urged supporters to believe in the party because it had
a very strong opposition in parliament to keep the
National Democratic Congress (NDC) government on its
toes.
Mr Dan Botwe, MP for Okere, said the NPP had a great
future and therefore urged the supporters not to be
perturbed about what had happened and be focused for
2012.
Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, presidential candidate of
the party in last year’s general election, thanked the
supporters for their support during the general election
and urged them to unite and push the party forward.
He urged them to stop the blame game and work hard to
ensure that the party continues to stand on its feet
till 2012 when “we will take the seat from the NDC”.
