Bail does not attract charges- Supt. Munford
Tarkwa (W/R) Jan. 01, GNA - Supt.
Slim Mumford, Tarkwa District Police Commander has said that
granting of bail to a suspect from police custody does not
attract any charges.
But, he said some people influence the Police with money in
the process of requesting for bail to their relations,
reminding the public that both the giver and receiver of the
money are both liable before the law.
Supt. Mumford said these during an interaction with the
Press at a get-together he organized for the Press at Tarkwa
at the weekend.
He commended the Press for the cordial relations the Press
has with the Police, adding, "let us maintain and strengthen
the cordiality between the Police and the Press."
Supt. Mumford advised the Pressmen not to hide their
identity when reporting on an incident.
This, he said, would not scare the public and also to avert
a section of the public from venting their anger on the
reporter.
Supt. Mumford told the reporters to cross-check their facts
before publishing to avoid rejoinders and law suits, adding,
" these make one a good Journalist".
Nana Kwabena Gyan, a veteran broadcaster thanked the
District Commander for creating a platform for such an
interaction.
