Ghana Commercial Bank Executives launch MoneyGram service from North America

Aug 7, Ghanadot - For nine days, executives of Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) toured major Ghana communities in the  U.S. and Canada to announce the bank’s launching of MoneyGram’s money transfer service from the US to the bank’s 133 locations throughout Ghana.

The MoneyGram money transfer service, which is a convenient way for Ghanaians to send money home, just became available at the bank's locations in Ghana during the month of July.
 

The GCB executives traveled from Ghana to bring the announcement about the money transfer service to Ghanaian media and community leaders in Chicago, Toronto, Atlanta, Washington, D.C and New York City.

Their first stop was Chicago on July 27, 2007 and the tour concluded in New York on Saturday August 4, 2007. On Friday August 3, 2007 at a dinner and reception ponsored by MoneyGram International.  The event was held in honor of the National Council of Ghanaian Associations and the Ghanaian community at the Ghana Mission to the United Nations.

At the dinner reception, an overview of Moneygram and Ghana Commercial Bank activities was provided by Ghana Bank Executives and MoneyGram executives.

“This is very important news for many Ghanaians living in the U.S. and Canada,” noted Toney Ryan, president of MoneyGram payment services.

 “Many of them regularly send funds home to Ghana to help their families there. With the addition of GCB’s 133 locations, it makes MoneyGram service much more convenient and accessible to families throughout Ghana who are receiving those funds.”

A question and answer session followed after the executives spoke.

The event highlighted a special moment for Ghanaians in the homeland and abroad to receive money easier and faster without the hassle of a long wait.
