"My
confidence in Gyan, Agogo unharmed" - Le Roy
Accra, Jan. 25, Ghanadot/GNA -
Claude Le Roy's confidence in the striking duo of Asamoah
Gyan and Junior Agogo remains unharmed despite their off
colour play against Namibia on Thursday.
"My confidence in Gyan and Agogo is as strong as it was
minutes before the game started and nothing will change that
now," he said at a press conference held less than 24 hours
after the encounter.
Agogo's 40th minute strike gifted the Black Stars a lone
goal victory with Gyan leading the pack in the comedy of
errors in front of goal throughout the game.
"The only problem with the strikers now is that of
confidence and I know they will soon overcome that."
Accusing fingers have been pointed especially at the Udinese
striker, Gyan who in the course of the game, opted to shoot
wide instead of tapping the ball into the net when the
Namibian goalkeeper Mbaha Attiel was already committed in
the six-yard box.
Le Roy's decision to stick with the pair in the game with
Morocco is one born out of his desire to prove to all that
the players are the best Ghana has to feature for the
National Team A.
"These two are the best strikers we have around and I
believe in their quality."
The French Trainer said Ghana would throw everything into
Monday's game with the North African's, which outcome could
undo the Black Stars chances to the quarter final stage of
the championship.
The 40th minute goal was Agogo's second at home. Gyan on the
other hand has scored only two of out of his 16 goals for
Ghana at home in his 26 outings.
