Hearts/Kotoko to square off in Italy

Accra, Jan 30, GNA – The nation’s two most glamorous clubs, Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko will square of in Vicenza, Italy on March 3.

The match to be organised by Atlas Sports Management in collaboration with Adspace is one of many sporting activities marking the Golden Jubilee of Ghana’s Independence.

The Stadio Romeo Menti, in Vicenza will host the much-awaited duel.
Oliver Kwame Afful Arthur, Chief Coordinating Officer of the match at a press briefing said the game is to determine the supreme Club in the country as well as entertain Ghanaian soccer fans resident in Italy.

“Considering the fierce rivalry between the two Clubs, which can be compared to AC Milan and Inter Milan in Italy, a neutral venue will be appropriate for justification of the nation’s topmost clubs.”

The Chief Coordinating Officer explained that the choice of Italy was reached considering the large number of Ghanaians resident there.

“Vicenza has the most populous Ghanaian community in Italy, which makes it the most ideal city to host the event.”

Hotel reservation and all the necessary flight bookings have been concluded for the game whilst the organizers await the release of the two Clubs from the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

Maxwell Addo, an official of Hearts of Oak confirmed to the GNA Sports his Club’s participation, describing it as an opportunity to stamp their dominance over their archrivals.

Kwame Baah-Nuakoh, Communications Director of Asante Kotoko also assured of a competitive game with their regular players in attendance.

At stake will be a giant trophy and a cash prize of 5000 Euros for the winning team.

Tickets for the match ranges from 10 Euros, 15 Euros to 20 Euros with Ghana Television expected to beam the match live across the country.
