Hearts split points with Kessben

Abrankese, (Ash), July 5, Ghanadot/GNA - League Leaders Accra Hearts of Oak were forced to settle for a pulsating goalless drawn game with Kessben F/C in their 27th fixture of the Glo Premier League match played at Anane Boateng Sports Stadium at Abrankese near Kumasi on Sunday.


Hearts who needed the three points to maintain their stay at the top of the table started the game on a fast note with series of incursions but Kessben took over in the six minute and had a chance in the 8th minute but Kwabena Adusei’s shot was brilliantly saved by goalkeeper Philemon Marcarthy.


Hearts who played it hard at the defence, worked tirelessly and came close to scoring in the 34th minute but Samuel Affum at the outside right failed to connect a cross from Jojo Bossman to end the half.


When the second half resumed, Kessben improved opn their game and nearly took the lead but Gideon Siboah’s volley went off target in the 47th minute.


Hearts who were determined to clinch victory over the homesters quickly came into the picture and pressed home for a goal and in the 65th minute Affum had another chance but his shot missed the posts narrowly while substitute Eric Gawu also missed an opportunity three minutes later.


Both teams exhausted their substitution but it was still Hearts who had the advantage as they dominated play but failed to find the net with the defence of Kessben proving difficult and unyielding.


Kessben mounted a last minute onslaught and had a chance in the 85th minute but Iddrisu Yahaya wasted the opportunity.
