Asantehene holds meeting with Kotoko’s management

Kumasi, Dec. 21, Ghanadot/GNA – The Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Spiritual Leader of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Football Club at the weekend held an emergency meeting with the management of the Club behind closed doors at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.

The GNA Sports gathered after the meeting that the interaction was necessitated by some alleged differences among some management members which was affecting smooth running of the Club.

Mr Kwame Baah-Nuako, Communications Director of Kotoko in his comments after the meeting said all rough edges have been sharpened following their meeting with the Asantehene.

“We are now more united than ever before and hope to work in collaboration with all other stakeholders to foster the development and progress of the Club”, he said.

The Asantehene, he said, expressed concern about the attitude of some former management members and Circle leaders to inciting supporters to call for the dissolution and change of management, adding that the Otumfuo made it clear that the issue of whether to change a management with another was his prerogative and that nobody could influence him to do otherwise.

Mr Baah-Nuako said Otumfuo who is also the Life Patron of the Club therefore cautioned such people to refrain from any negative acts to ensure peace prevails in the Club.

Mr Jerry Asare, Management Member in-charge of Operations said that Eric Bekoe’s transfer to a Club in Egypt was necessitated by the player’s own will to leave and seek greener pastures.

He therefore urged media personnel and supporters in particular to desist from reading other meanings into the transfer.

The Operations Director said management members were united and that the club was looking ahead to win this year’s Premier League and the CAF Champion’s League.
