South Africa wins Hockey African Cup

Accra, July 19, Ghanadot - The South Africa hockey team proved why they are the best on the continent and have retained the Africa cup.


At the Theodocia Oko pitch in Accra yesterday, the South Africa team, both Men and Women defeated their opponents to clinch victory.


It was the women team who first started the onslaught and they defeated Ghana's black Sticks 5-1. Since the competition started about a week ago, it was only yesterday that the South Africa's women team conceded a goal.


South Africa's men team followed the path of their women team when they also locked horns with the Egyptian team. They defeated the Egyptian team 3-1 to lift the men trophy.


The South Africa's team, both men and women have qualify for the Hockey World Cup to be staged in Argentina later in the year.


Preceding the final matches yesterday were the third place matches where Ghana defeated Nigeria 3-2 in the men's category and Nigeria defeated Egypt 3-0 in the women category.
