NO BRIGHT FUTURE IF SHORT-TERM PROBLEMS PERSIST, AKUFO-ADDO TELLS MAHAMA

“Friday at Akropong, at the Odwira, the President of the Republic, John Dramani Mahama, told us that the problems we are having today in Ghana are short-term, but the medium and long-term prospects of our country are still very bright. Mr. President, what we will say to you is this. If we cannot deal with the short term problems, it will compromise our medium and long term future. They will no longer be bright.”

These were the words of Nana Akufo-Addo when he addressed delegates of the New Patriotic Party in the Ashanti Region, at Abbey’s Park in the Asawase Constituency, when he rounded of his tour of the region ahead of Saturday’s NPP Presidential Primary.

According to Nana Akufo-Addo, the NDC government has proven over the last 6 years in office that it cannot deal with the “short-term problems” they have needlessly created for Ghana, coupled with the widespread corruption that have resulted in untold hardships for Ghanaians.

Until these short-term problems are solved, Nana Akufo-Addo explained that there was no way President Mahama could assure Ghanaians of brighter and better times ahead for the nation.

He, however, urged Ghanaians not to lose hope, assuring them that an NPP government, under his leadership, will rapidly transform the fortunes of Ghana within a relatively short period of taking office in 2017.

“We are bringing a competent government composed of experienced men and women who will solve the problems of our dear nation. It will not take long, within a short period we will turn the fortunes of this country around and put it back on the path of prosperity. We have the men and women in this party to give the nation very respectable, effective and efficient government and God-wiling, that government, in 2017 will be led by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo,” Nana Akufo-Addo added.

An Akufo-Addo government, he emphasized, will create an enabling environment to ensure that businesses succeed, as opposed to current situation in the country where most businesses are collapsing due to the high cost of doing businesses, resulting in job losses for workers, thereby increasing the already high numbers of unemployment in the country.

He assured that the agricultural sector, which is the mainstay of majority of Ghanaians, will be reinvigorated, assuring further that every sector of the Ghanaian economy will receive a new lease of life under his administration.

Nana Akufo-Addo will on Monday, October 13, and Tuesday, October 14, tour the Western Region before moving onto the Central Region on Wednesday, October 15 to meet delegates ahead of Saturday’s contest.
