Long familiar relationship between auditors and auditees breed corruption

Kumasi, July 18, GNA - Mr. Joseph Kwabena Onyinah, the Ashanti Regional Director of Education, has said the long and familiar relationship internal auditors have with auditess had bred corruption and malfeasance.

To halt the trend the regional education directorate would reshuffle the Ghana Education Service (GES) Internal Auditors to promote transparency and efficient financial management and controls.

Mr. Onyinah was addressing a three-day residential workshop for 43 GES Internal Auditors in the Ashanti Region in Kumasi on Thursday.

Under the theme,” Ensuring Effective Management of Resources: The Role of Internal Auditor”, the workshop was organized by the Ashanti Regional GES Internal Auditors Association.

Mr. Onyinah said internal auditors have a crucial role to play in the examination of financial and operating information for management to ensure the success of the new education system.

Mr. Joe Bio, Ashanti Regional Internal Auditor of the G.E.S. advised the management to ensure that all official vehicles were comprehensively insured.
