NDC
functionaries urged to be good ambassadors
Adukrom-Akuapem (E/R), Feb. 18,
Ghanadot/GNA - Mr George Addo
Opare, National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary
candidate for the Okere Constituency, in last year’s general
election has called on functionaries of the party to be good
ambassadors wherever they find themselves.
He urged them to attract more people to the party and ensure
that the party is retained in future elections.
Mr Opare was addressing party supporters at Adukrom-Akuapem
on Wednesday, after attending a thanksgiving service
organized by the party at the Adukrom Presbyterian Church.
He advised members of the party, who would be given
political appointments “to always bear in mind that they owe
their positions first to the electorates who voted the party
into power and their welfare should be their major concern”.
Mr Opare called for the re-organization of the structures of
the party in the constituency to enable it to have a solid
foundation for future elections.
The Eastern Regional Organizer of the party, Mr Bismarck
Tawiah-Boateng, said the party appreciated the hard work
done in the constituency by the late Fuzzy Torbay who was
the NDC Member of Parliament (MP) for the area from 1992 to
2000 and promised that the party would be continuing those
good works.
The Constituency Chairman of the party, Mr Douglas Adjei,
said the Okere Constituency was not a strong hold of the New
Patriotic Party (NPP) and with determination; the party
could win the constituency back.
He urged supporters of the party in the constituency to open
up and welcome people from other political parties into
their fold, adding that, politics is about numbers.
