Asante Presbytery of PCG elects new Chairperson

Kumasi, April 19, Ghanadot/GNA – The Reverend Kwabena Opuni-Frimpong, Head of the Department of Religious Studies of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has been elected as the new Chairperson of the Asante Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG).


He polled 80 votes to beat his two contestants, Rev Dr Isaack Kwaku Fokuo and Rev Peter Kofi Nyarkoh, who polled 51 and 23 votes respectively.


The election forms part of the 87th Asante Presbytery delegates meeting which ended in Kumasi at the weekend under the theme “Put on the Whole Armour of God”.


Rev Opuni-Frimpong succeeds Rev Otuo Acheampong whose five-year term ends in August, this year.


Addressing the delegates, Rev Opuni-Frimpong thanked the presbytery for the confidence reposed in him, promising that he would bring all stakeholders on board in the discharge of his duties.


Rev Acheampong praised the congregation for the immense support during his tenure and said he would collaborate effectively with the Chairperson-elect in his work for the progress and development of the church.
