Pressure mounts on Prez Mills to deliver on his promise
Audrey Micah, Ghanadot

Accra, March 16, Ghanadot - President John Atta Mills may have spent only sixty-seven days in office but already pressure seems to be mounting on him to deliver on promises made to Ghanaians.

The NDC prior to the 2008 elections, promised to deliver on certain promises within its first hundred days in office.

One of such promises was to rid the country of filth whilst tackling certain issues of national policy.

With 32 days more to hit the hundredth day in office, Ghanaians are already calling on the Mills led administration to deliver on the said promises.

One of such person is the Communications Minister, Haruna Iddrisu who believes time is running out and therefore the government must do all it can to deliver its 100 days promises.

“First impressions they say are lasting impressions. It is important that as a government, we commit to honoring our obligations and pledges to the people of Ghana within our first hundred days.

"I am primarily interested in governance issue. We committed to the freedom of information bill, a review of the whistle blower act and operationalization of the persons with disability act”.

According to him, it is his hope and prayer that in the next coming days, the Mills led administration will be seen as giving meaning to these legislations and other pledges that was made to be achieved within hundred days.

When Ghanadot visited some areas in the city to find out whether the current administration is really working towards attaining its hundred days promise during its campaign, it was noted that though much has been said during the elections, people are yet to feel that change promised by the Atta Mills led government.

According to those who spoke to Ghanadot, although the Mills’ administration has been able to rationalize ministries and state departments, and has since been trying to cut expenditure, it will be in their interest if the government can make a bold and comprehensive decision on how to deal with the appalling filth in some parts of the country since their first approach has failed.

While others are beginning to think that President Mills promise of job creation is a mirage as they claimed life is now even harder than it was before, some also hoped that with time and patience, President Mills administration will certainly deliver on his promise.
