Dr. Nkrumah was major spokeman for Africa-Minister
Audrey Micah, Ghanadot

Accra, May 29, Ghanadot - The Deputy Minister of Information and National Orientation, Samuel Okudzetu Ablakwa has stated in an interview with GhanaDot that Dr. Kwame Nkrumah still remains one of the most influential Pan Africanists of the 20th century. He said; it is in his role as a nation builder that led Ghana to an independent country.

According to him as the country prepares to celebrate his 100 years, it is as well important for the youth of Ghana to revisit the history of one of the greatest men in the African continent and learn from him to be able to face the challenges of these times.

He said Nkrumah never gave up on his dream for a better Africa, thus he was a pioneering leader in the struggle for the total emancipation of the continent, adding that Nkrumah’s dream was fulfilled as he saw the eradication of race-based unconstitutional governments in the continent.

To him, Nkrumah managed to transform and sustained the country into a proactive and effective one for what he saw was the "first stage of our emancipation"

"This shows that Kwame Nkrumah was a thinker and visionary in his own rights and the most important hero for Afrrca and especially Ghana."

The deputy minister maintained that Nkrumah's history serve as a stage for the younger generation and a teacher to inform and give confidence to the youth to be achievers and contributers for Ghana’s development.

He said there is the need for Ghana to honour such a hero who has done done so much for the Ghanaian people.

Hon. Ablakwa described Dr. Nkrumah as a statesman and a patriotic nationalist but also a Pan-Africanist who widened the horizons of the nationalist struggle to embrace social justice, equity and issues of global peace and sustainable development and won worldwide recognition for his greatness.

He reiterated the government preparedness to follow and complete if not all some projects of the first president of the Ghana.

The deputy minister urged the youth to read more on Nkrumah and what he stood for so as to enable them to stand and defend his legacy when called upon.
