VRA boss sacked, Kweku Awotwi takes over

Accra, June 5, Ghanadot -
Information reaching GhanaDot indicates that Owura Kwaku
Sarfo, Managing Director of the Volta River Authority has
been relieved of his position.
Currently, reasons for his removal are unclear, but sources
say it might be the recent disruptions in power supply that
accounted for his dismissal.
According to the information gathered, Mr. Kweku Andoh
Awotwi, a former chairman of the interim management
Committee of the VRA has taken over from him.
The Volta River Authority (VRA) was established on 26th
April 1961, under the Volta River Development Act, Act 46 of
the Republic of Ghana.
The Authority’s primary function is to generate and supply
electrical energy for industrial, commercial and domestic
use in Ghana.
The Authority is also responsible for safe-guarding the
health and socio-economic well being of the inhabitants of
the communities alongside the lake, and management of any
incidental issues including maintenance of the environment.
VRA started with the development of the hydroelectric
potentials of the Volta River and the construction of a
nation-wide grid transmission system.
Today, it has assumed responsibility for the development of
other energy potentials of the Country.

guarantee customers satisfaction as well as putting in place
effective mechanisms that would enable the monitoring of
