Vodafone to lay off 950 workers by November
Audrey Micah, Ghanadot

Accra, July 31, Ghanadot - Some 950 workers of Vodafone Ghana will be laid off in a compulsory redundancy programme.

The lay-off to be implemented at the end of November will affect all departments and could also lead to the closure of non-core departments.

This is different from the voluntary retirement package offered the workers under which they were offered three months salary per each year served with the company.

The compulsory redundancy programme also offers three months basic salary for each year served.

According to the Chief Manager for Corporate Communications, Isaac Abraham the move is aimed at delivering better services to customers of the company.

Mr. Abraham disclose that the decision to lay off staff is part of a restructuring programme to be conducted in a “a fair and transparent manner.”
