Kwesi Bekoe Amissah now BoG governor

Accra, Aug 18, Ghanadot -
Mr. Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur, an Economist, has been appointed
the new Governor of the Bank of Ghana to replace Dr. Paul Acquah.
He assumes office on October 01, 2009 when Dr. Paul Acquah’s
term of office ends.
According to a statement signed by Koku Anyidoho, Head of
Communication at the presidency, the new governor’s appointment
by President John Atta Mills is in consultation with the Council
of State.
Mr. Amissah-Arthur holds a Masters degree in Economics and has
lectured in Economics at the University of Ghana and also at the
Anambra State College of Education, Awka Anambra State, Nigeria.
He also worked as PNDC Deputy Secretary for the Ministry of
Finance and Economic Planning and continued to work in the same
capacity during the first term of the Rawlings-led NDC
Government.
Mr. Amissah-Arthur prior to his appointment, worked as a private
Consultant/Economist.Ghanadot

Government imposes curfew on Akwatia
Accra, Aug 17, Ghanadot
- The Minister for the Interior, Cletus Avoka, has
imposed a curfew on the town of Akwatia. This follows
violent clashes on Sunday between supporters of the ruling
National Democratic Congress and the New Patriotic Party.
