Mills’ promise of Change is too slow - Nduom

Audrey Micah, Ghanadot

Accra, Oct 6, Ghanadot - Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom has stated that the Mills’ administration has failed to deliver rapidly enough his campaign promise of ‘Change’ to the people of Ghana.

According to him, his purpose for saying this is to get someone in the government to listen and and to do something drastic about the situation because life has become difficult for Ghanaians.

In an interview on Joy FM, the past presidential candidate for the Convention People’s Party (CPP) at the 2008 election said, the issues of public sector reforms, government appointments and dismissals, job creation, pre-mix fuel, the economy and what he described as the NDC/NPP political football game, need immediate attention.

“What I am doing today is to raise a number of concerns and to let Ghanaians know and to let the Mills Administration know that we all campaigned on the platform of change and I don’t see the change coming rapidly enough and I want to sound that alarm. I want people to know that indeed there is time for some of these changes to be effected..”

Dr. Nduom hoped that the Public Sector ministry would be transformed into a ministry of Public Service to be a permanent feature to take care of issues dealing with strengthening the administration, bringing efficiency, bringing on board ICT.

He also disclosed that the sector can also address the concerns with a sense of urgency, particularly with wages and salaries but the ministry has now been subsumed under the presidency and that to him, would harm it in dealing with the challenges.

To further enhance the capacity of the local businesses, Dr. Nduom called on President, Mills, to declare a “buy made-in-Ghana” to ensure that government spending will be done productively despite the global economic recess.
