AKUFO-ADDO REACTS TO ALLEGATION FROM ASOKWA CONTITUENCY

The attention of Nana Akufo-Addo’s Office has been drawn to a press release signed by the Asokwa Constituency Organiser of the NPP, Mr. Francis Adomako, calling on Nana Akufo-Addo to clear his name on whether or not he has authorised Dr. Amoako Tuffuor to campaign for Hon. Maxwell Kofi Jumah on his behalf in the Asokwa constituency.

Nana Akufo-Addo has since taken the effort to listen to the tape recording where Dr. Amoako Tuffuor is alleged to have used Nana Akufo-Addo’s name to canvass for Hon. Kofi Jumah and can confidently say that nowhere in the tape did Dr. Amoako Tuffuor say he was acting on Nana Addo’s behalf. Indeed, Nana Addo has also spoken personally to Dr. Amoako Tuffuor and he has refuted the allegation, as he has since been doing publicly in the media. Dr. Amoako Tuffuor was expressing his own personal views.

The Office wishes to appeal to the Asokwa Constituency Organiser, and indeed all other party members who intend to put out in the public domain any information pertaining to the Party, to verify its authenticity before going on record. Preferably, the Office would appeal to party members to air their concerns first within internal party structures, rather than going straight to the public forum.

In his recent tour of the nation, ahead of the parliamentary primaries, Nana Akufo-Addo emphatically stated his position that he does not support any particular candidate. We wish to reiterate the position of the flag bearer, that he does not support any candidate and the only candidates acceptable to him will be the ones selected by the respective electoral colleges in the constituencies.

We also wish to use this opportunity to congratulate all members of the Party for their excellent comportment up till now, and their continued show of respect for the rules and regulations governing the upcoming parliamentary elections, and further urge all executives of the Party to continue to refrain from exhibiting biases that will not promote the unity of the Party.

Signed
Herbert Krapa
Press Secretary
