Accra, March 3,
Ghanadot -
After winning the
December 28 run-off elections, the ruling National Democratic Congress, (NDC),
has lost some of its key party officials to the new
administration.
With the new NDC administration yet to finish forming its government, there is
the possibility that, many more party officials would be appointed to occupy
other positions in government.
After appointing 75 ministers and some deputies, some of the party bigwigs who
have joined the new administration are, Ms Ama Benyiwa-Doe, the National Women
Organizer of the party, and now the Central Regional Minister, Mr Ofosu Ampofo,
the National Organizer of the party and now the Eastern Regional Minister.
The rest are Hon Haruna Iddrisu, the National Youth Organizer and now the
Minister of Communication, Mr Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, the 1st deputy general
secretary and now the deputy Minister for local government and Rural
Development, Mr Baaba Jamal, the 2nd deputy general secretary and the Deputy
Eastern Regional Minister. Also in the government is Mr Fiifi Kwetey, the
propaganda secretary of the party and who is now heading to the Ministry of
Finance as deputy Finance Minister.
Political analysts have however described the situation as a looming danger for
the party, if nothing is urgently done to replace
them.
Meanwhile, Mr Yaw Boateng Gyan, the deputy National Organizer of NDC has told
ghanadot that, executives of the National Democratic Congress would soon convey
an emergency meeting to decide on a date for a congress to elect new officers to
man the affairs of the party.
He said, in order to prevent any danger associated with appointing top party
officials to occupy ministerial positions, the date for the congress would be
announced soon.
