Government Transition Team Ends Work Today
By Abdul Salam Sule, Ghanadot

Accra, March 13, Ghanadot - Information available to Ghanadot has revealed that, the government transition team which was set up in January this year to transfer all government assets from the previous NPP government to the new administration would end its work today and would consequently present its report to the President.

A source at the office of the chairman of the government transition team that confirmed the story said, the work of the committee was very fruitful even though it conceded there were some misunderstanding at a point in time between the transitional team of the former administration.

The source said, the chairman of the government transitional team, Mr Paul Victor Obeng, would at the close of work today present the report of the team to the President John Evans Atta Mills for study and if the need be, take appropriate action against former government officials who had been indicted by the report.

But the work of the government transition team has not come to an end without some blood bath with that of the former administration's transition team.

At a point in time during the work of the government transition team, it was described as a 'kangaroo court' by the members of the former administration. An assertion which the government transition team took great exception of.

Another problem encountered by the government transition team with that of the past administration was the assets of the state which the members of the past government were supposed to hand over to the new administration.

Dr Don Arthur, the chairman of the Assets Committee of the government transition team, was on various occasions reported to have said that the immediate past government officials were having in their possession state owned vehicles.

This led to seizure of some cars belonging to the past government officials and the presidential candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party, (NPP) Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo also became a victim of the car seizure. Because of this development, members of the former NPP administration transition team threatened to boycott the work with the government transition team but they were prevailed upon to stay.

Despite some of the negatives recorded during the work of the transition team, a source from the government's transition has told Ghanadot that, the work was successful and they were looking forward to present their final report to the President today at the castle, Osu.
