Philanthropist donates to school
By Abdul Salam Sule, Ghanadot

Accra, March 22, Ghanadot - A Ghanaian based Canadian philanthropist has donated items worth $400 000 to his old school, Modern College of Commerce, (MOCOCO), a commercial school at Nkawkaw in the Kwahu West District of the Easter Region.

This act is something that is rare within the old students community in Ghana.

Mr. George Boateng, the philanthropist, included in this gift a brand new Toyota Runner for the school.  Also included were 11 computers, 15 printers and scanner with photo copy machine and some sports equipments for the school.

The Principal of MOCOCO, Mr. Ofosu Appiah who received the items from the Kwahu West Municipal Director of Education was in full praise of Mr. George Boateng for his benevolent act. He revealed that, George was one of the best students in the year 1985 and he had long been convinced that he (George) was going to make it in life.

“ With his zeal to always study hard, I knew that that boy would succeed in life and he has confirmed it today”, Mr. Ofosu said happily.

He however urged the past students of the school to emulate the actions of Mr. George and help the school to attain the status of highest educational excellence.

The Kwahu West Municipal Director of Education, Mr. N.A Dwamena for his part urged the students to learn hard and pass their exams, saying it would be good examination results that could propel them to achieve higher educational laurels.

On his part, Apostle Osei Bonsu of Church of Universal Light Nkawkaw, prayed for Mr. George Boateng for his good gesture, stressing, "may the good Lord give him eternal life." The apostle also urged the students to take their studies serious to better their future.
