Don't exert pressure on Prez mills- Aggudey
BY Abdul Salam Sule, Ghanadot
Accra, April 6, Ghanadot - The
presidential candidate of the Convention People's Party (CPP)
in the 2004 elections, Mr George Opesika Aggudey has called
on Ghanaians not to stampede the Mills administration to
take decisions which will not be in the interest of the
nation.
He explained that the kind of pressure being exerted on the
Mills administration to fulfill its campaign promise within
the shortest possible time might influence the
administration to take certain steps which would be counter
productive to the aspirations of the people.
Mr Aguddey made this remarks when he interacted with a
number of the leading members of CPP from the various
regions at his residence in Accra. He noted that it was too
early for the Mills administration which had been in office
for only three months to chalk up any successes.
"It is premature for the people to expect his administration
to turn around their conditions within this short period
after assuming political power", he said.
According to him, President Mills is at the moment putting
in place the neccessary structures which would facilitate
the delivery of his campaign promises during his term of
office.
"The President does not at the moment have the full
complement of his appointees from the districts to the
national level and this he has to be accomplished before
policies and programmes could be implemented across the
country for the benefit of the people", he added.
Mr Agudey noted that there were serious challenges
confronting the economy that the Kuffour administartion left
behind.
He said, the Mills administration has to review its own
programmes in the light of the realities on the ground after
the its assumption of political office and it could not be
carried out in a jiffy.
