Accra, June 10, Ghanadot - Following an appeal by the Civil Servants Association in the Upper East Region to the Attah Mills administration to increase workers salary to correspond with the fuel prices increment, a senior government official at Ministry of Employment and Social Welfare has told Ghanadot that public sector wages could go up by 20 percent from next week.

The Source said government is working with a figure of around 18 percent in line with the recent less than 20 percent increase in the National Minimum Wage.

Fuel prices went up by 30 percent across the board on Friday, June 5, after Government scraped subsidies on petroleum products.

The increases pushed up transport fares by 17 percent, with experts saying the prices of food and other household items are likely to follow suit.
