Accra, July 21, Ghanadot -
The family of Dr Kwame Nkrumah,
the first President of the Republic of Ghana,
has made a passionate appeal to the President
Mills to return properties of Dr
Kwame that were confiscated at his
overthrow in 1966.
Speaking on behalf of the family at Nkroful, the birth place
of Dr Nkrumah, Mr Ajovia, the family's
spokeperson, said, the first President owned a house
at Nsuem in the Elembele constituency and other scattered
properties but were confiscated by the then military
government after his overthrow.
He said several attempts to get government
to restore the property to a
befitting status and returned to the family have
failed.
Mr Ajova said this when committee members of the Nkrumah
Centenary celebration paid a visit to the family at Nkroful
over the weekend.
He called on the government to
restore the property back to the family and also institute a
scholarship award scheme in the name of Dr Kwame Nkrumah to
support children from the family.
