Atta Mills Takes the Day

Accra, Dec 3, Ghanadot - After years of political activity and a series of defeats, the flag-bearer of the Nationa Democratic Congress (NDC) is the President-elect of the Republic of Ghana.

“It is my duty to declare Prof. John Evans Atta Mills the president-elect of the Republic of Ghana."

After the Tain elections, Nana Akufo-Addo of the NPP gained 4,480,446 representing 49.77 per cent of the total valid votes cast.

President-elect John Evans Atta Mills polled 4, 521, 032 representing 50.23 per cent of the total votes cast.

Announcing the results, the electoral commissioner, Dr. Kwadwo Afari-Gyan said he looked at evidence of the electoral fraud submitted by both parties and that there is not enough evidence to persue the case.

Meanwhile, the General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia congratulated all party supporters and the general public for making Professor Evans Atta Mills as the next president of Ghana.

According to him, it would have been a different story if Ghanaians have not comported themselves, he also expressed appreciation to their opponent the NPP for keeping the peace and making Ghana the winner.

The General secretary of the NDC said they have a bigger job ahead and that is what they expect to be able to finish. He said their party as the next government will see to it that the Ghanaian is given a priority to develop financially and socially without regard to party affiliation or tribe.

To him the NDC has to ensure that the country's sanitation problem is handle properly and as they enter the Golden Jubilee House, they have a duty to the people and that is what they will be busy doing from 8 of January 2009 when Professor Evans Atta Mills is finaly the president.

He assured the nation that the rumour that when they come to power they will bring choas and imprison personalities from the NPP camp is false and that there will not be any problem that will put the nation in any dispute but rather they will put their efforts in ensuring development to all.

Asiedu Nketia revealed that Atta Mills government will be an all inclusive one and will rely on the entire manpower base of the country to deliver the needed development the nation requires.

He noted that Atta Mills’ government will draw from the experience of the aged and strength and commitment of the young to form an efficient, effective, wise and able government
