Remember your Promise-Ghanaians called on Mills
Audrey Micah, Ghanadot

Accra, Jan 5, Ghanadot - Few days after Professor John Evans Atta Mills of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) successfully won the closely contested runn-off to become the president of the Republic of Ghana, members of the general public have once again called on him to remember his promise of creating a better Ghana for all.

Speaking to GhanaDot, Mr. Moses Baah, a banker in Accra said, he personally expect the president-elect to create more jobs as most of the people are jobless and also create better living conditions to teachers as promised.

"I would not like to see him taking a different path just because he is the new president, imposing new policies and undermining the previous government's work. He should pick up from where he took the post". He added.

According Felix a mechanic, Ghana is lacking behind as far as development and infrastructure is concerned. He said he hopes that as Ghana, with one voice, successfully elected Professor Mills, he expects that his promises to the country and its people will be met.

He maintained that Ghanaians are still waiting for him, to reduce the petroleum products as promised, adding that for the nation to fully believe in the government of the NDC Professor Mills should not go back on his words since it was because of his words that got him presidency.

A trader at the Kaneshie market, Maame Esi called on the president-elect to make it his priority to ensure that after reducing the prices of petroleum products, drivers of commercial vehicles are made to reduce their transport fares as well, since that is what is creating the problem.

"Before the elections, Professor Mills promised to reduce petrol prices in 100 days when he wins, now that he is elected as the next president for the country, it is my wish that as soon as he does that, he will continue to make sure that drivers also reduce transport fares so that food stuffs will also be cheaper for all".

She also appealed to the new president to continue with the good policies of the previous government and also aimed at unifying the country, rather than starting new policies which will not bring immediate benefit to the Ghanaian.

Mr. Boateng also said that unity of the country is what he seeks from the president-elect, as one close look at the election results will tell you that the country is now split in the middle adding that he hopes he can deliver on the expectations of the majority of Ghanaians, because in four years the people will judge him again.
