IGP, CDS Dismissed
Abdul Salam Sule, Ghanadot

Accra, Jan 27, Ghanadot - Barely a few hours after the former President called for the removal of all security heads in the country, information reaching Ghanadot indicates that, the Inspector General of Police, (IGP), Mr. Kwarteng Acheampong has been sacked by the Atta Mills led administration.

Our investigations revealed that, the IGP's dismissal came in as "proceed on leave" and it was directly communicated to him by the President, Prof Mills at a close of work on Monday 26th January 2009.

A source at the Ghana Police Service headquarters has hinted to Ghanadot that, Mrs Mills Roberson, deputy Inspector General of Police, would act as the Inspector General of Police until further notice.

It should be noted that, the former President, Mr. J. J Rawlings, after a visit to the Kotoka International Airport, advised the President to dismiss all heads of security in the country. This was after the former President had observed some security lapses at the airport.

Also the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lt. General J.B. Danquah is also asked to retire with effect from today. The statement said pending the appointment of Rear Admiral A.R.S Nuno, the chief of Naval Staff would act as CDS.
