Farmer acclaimed by community for
curing Buruli Ulcer cases
Bayerebon No 5 (Ash), Feb 10, GNA - Opanin Kwame Appiah, a
40-year-old farmer from Bayerebon No 5 in the Atwima-Mponua
District, has been acclaimed by the community and outlying
villages for successfully curing of buruli ulcer, using
herbal medicine.
According to a cross section of the community including
sufferers who spoke to the GNA on conditions of anonymity,
Opanin Appiah has used his herbal medicine to cure more than
33 patients.
Some staff of the government clinic at Bayerebon No 5, an
endemic area, confirmed to the GNA that some patients
referred to the clinic as well as the Saint Martin's
Catholic Hospital at Agroyesum went to Opanin Appiah and
have all been cured by the herbalist.
Mrs Belinda Baffoe-Bonnie, the District Director of Ghana
Health Services, advised him to send his herbal preparation
to the Centre for Scientific Research into Plant Medicine at
Mampong-Akwapim for laboratory analysis.
