Ghanadot deploys three banners in
Accra

Accra
February 22, 2007, Ghanadot -
Ghanadot, the on-line
publication that classifies itself as the most definitive
source for news from Ghana, deployed three highly decorative
banners around the Accra metropolitan area today. |
|
The banners were deployed, in conjunction with the objective
of promoting “The Way Forward” free tuition essay
competition for university students in Ghana.
North American Airlines is a major sponsor of the
contest. The airline operates scheduled, direct
services from New York City and Baltimore to Accra
and back.

Also supporting Ghanadot in the scholarship search is the
Free Africa Foundation, advocates of social and political
justice for Africa and home of the “African-based solutions
to Africa's problems” movement.
The Spriggs Family of the US has also dedicated, through
“The Way Forward” essay competition, a tuition free
scholarship for one year in memory of their departed husband
and brother, Ray V. Spriggs, first African-American Peace
Corp volunteer who served in Ghana in the late 50s.
The essay competition is designed to run each month of the
year 2007 and the best essay for the month will be published
on Ghanadot.com. Each published essay will gain a monetary
award equivalent to $50.00 (Fifty US Dollars) with the
winners automatically qualifying for selection to win one of
the free tuition fee awards at the end of the year.
According to the publisher of Ghanadot, six free tuition
scholarships awards are currently set to be given to
deserving students. And, he said, depending on the
enthusiasm the contest generates, more could be added.
The free tuition award is good for attendance to any
university in Ghana and the monetary value shall not exceed
that of a public university in Ghana.
The banners deployed so far have quickly become a
conversational piece. Some have described it as “most
colorful … with motif of a Kente Cloth” that they said
captured instantly the cultural heritage of Ghana.
The Ghanadot banners are to be found in three locations in
the city area. The first one is located near the Cantonments
Post Office, on Giffard Road, where it catches the attention
of a mix of people from all walks of life.
The second is deployed in the Ministries area, where it is
intended to attract the attention of policy makers and high
officials of government with offices within the area.
The third banner is to be found at the strategic “three-way
junction” of East Legon where the busy morning and evening
commuter traffic intersect.
The objective of Ghanadot, as a publication,
the publisher said, is to bring
fresh new perspective of news from Ghana; positive, vibrant,
and less outrageously sensational.
