Create level ground for aspiring candidates - Media urged

Agona Swedru, Feb. 22, GNA - Mr. Derrrick Owusu Ambrose, Pharmacist of the Agona Swedru District hospital, has advised the media to create a level-playing field for the aspiring NPP candidates to be the flag-bearer for the 2008 presidential election.

The media should desist from "throwing mud" at some of the candidates in favour of those they regarded as their friends.

Speaking to the GNA at Agona Swedru, Mr. Ambrose who is also a member of Assin South District Assembly said the media should not confuse the electorate who relied on them to make informed decisions.

"Throwing your weight behind some of the candidates to campaign against others would not help to get a trustworthy flag bearer and a possible President for the nation," he said.

Mr. Ambrose reminded the media that the election of a flag bearer for a party was an exercise, which could make or destroy the nation and said the candidates should be given equal treatment.

He suggested to the newspapers to come out with the curriculum vitae of the candidates to help the electorate to take good decisions.

"When reporting on activities of the candidates write exactly what takes place or what exactly was said. Do not add or subtract anything to it," the Assembly Member said.

"The future of the nation is at stake do not let personal gain becloud your sense of judgement" he stated.

"Refrain from attempts to destroy aspiring flag bearers," Mr. Ambrose advised the media.
