DPP Optimistic of victory in 2008 election

Accra, November 18, Ghanadot - The founder and presidential hopeful of the Democratic People’s Party (DPP), Mr. Thomas Ward-Brew says he is confident that his party will emerge winner in the December polls. He assures that a DPP government under his leadership will prioritize and deal efficiently and effectively with the alarming situation of unemployment in the country.

According to him, equipping and providing job opportunities for the Ghanaian is of tremendous importance than extending free education to the second cycle, which to him will only compound the country’s problems.

“Free education to the senior high school is not the best of option because already, many people have come out from schools and there are no jobs, so why would you want to increase the intake in our school? That means you want to make the situation worse, the country must be ready to receive those products and provide better jobs for them”.

He reiterated that it is about time Ghana’s politic be rescued and the human development base improved so that a person can be appreciated based on what he can do rather then the political party he belongs.

“When the DPP comes to office we will form the National Government to bring on board all the best brains the country has to offer to help in the development process of the country”.

Mr. Ward-Brew said the government of the DPP will not over decentralize the ministries in order to make them viable and effectual, adding that in the situation of creating so many units and districts making some government officials inefficient.

The flag bearer of the DPP maintained that political parties and politician are taking the minds of the Ghanaian for granted as they engage in false campaign promises. He said under his leadership he will ensure that politicians and parties don't have that chance to mislead the people.

He assured that when the party enter the Golden Jubilee House come January 2009, he will ensure that at least there is one university in every region in the country.

For Mr. Wrad-Brew, this could be achieved because most of the regions as of now have training colleges which could be upgraded to the university level where one can graduate with degrees.

On the party’s stand on corruption, Mr. Ward-Brew disclosed that a DPP administration will tackle the issue of corruption by setting good leadership role in his government.
