Two Insurers before court

Accra, Nov. 21, GNA - Two persons appeared before an Accra Regional Tribunal on Tuesday for operating an insurance company without authority from the National Insurance Commission.

The Tribunal granted Charles Nii Otu Okunor, a businessman, and Felix Sai, a car dealer, bail, in the sum of 100 million cedis each, when they both pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The matter was consequently adjourned to Friday, December 12.
The facts of the case as narrated by the Prosecution were that, acting upon a tip-off, the Police, on November 10 arrested Okunor at Abofu, near Achimota, for doing insurance business without licence.
The Prosecution said Sai was arrested when Okunor mentioned him as a co-partner of the business.

Police investigations after their arrest revealed that the two had not registered their business with the Insurance Commission.
