Government urged to endorse copyright bill
Kumasi November 22, GNA - Mr. Eliot Agyare, the
President of the Ghana Publishers Association, has
appealed to the President to give assent to the
Copyright Bill which had already been approved by
parliament.
He said the copyright law has to come into force to
protect authors, artists and owners of intellectual
properties from piracy that had spiralled and
threatening the survival of the arts and music
industry.
Mr. Agyare said this in Kumasi on Monday when he
interacted with students of the Department of
Publishing of the Kwame Nkrumah University of
Science and Technology.
He lauded the government for instituting the
National Book Policy and said assenting to the
copyright law to replace the old one that is not
strong enough to stop piracy would go a long way to
revamp the art, music and publishing industry.
