Christians worship ahead of Sunday’s election
Accra, Dec. 6, Ghanadot/GNA - Some Churches, which have brought
forward their normal Sunday worship to Saturday, have held
church services in Accra with the focus being a peaceful and
successful election.
The church services are being held on Saturday to give
worshippers enough time to vote on Sunday, which is Election
Day.
At the Global Evangelical Church, Yahweh Chapel at Lashibi,
the service was dedicated to prayers for peaceful elections.
Special prayers were said for God’s guidance for all
officials who would preside over the elections as well as
for the youth.
The Rev. Godwin Agbevem, Parish Pastor, urged members of the
congregation to conduct themselves peacefully at the various
polling stations where they will be voting.
He asked all Christians to remain steadfast in prayer to
ensure that only the will of God was manifested in the
choice of a leader who would bring unity and reconciliation
to the country.
At the Taifa Assembly of the Christ Apostolic Church
International, the Rev. Enoch Osafo, the Resident Minister
led the congregation to pray for a peaceful election.
Rev Osafo urged Ghanaians to ensure that the elections
become peaceful no matter which party won because Ghana
should be placed first before each party
or their presidential and parliamentary candidates.
Quoting from Romans 13: 1-7, he said all leaders and rulers
were made from God and so whoever resisted them resisted the
will of God and would suffer damnation.
Rev. Osafo asked the congregation not to engage in any
controversy before, during or after the elections but
exercise their voting rights as responsible persons.
Earlier in a sermon, the Rev Oko Abossey, the Guest
Preacher, said there was a reward for every good thing done
and asked the congregation to ensure that the electioneering
process was peaceful at all levels.
