Ministry launches official song for Black Stars

Accra, Sept 13, Ghanadot/GNA - The Ministry of Education, Science and Sports has launched the official cheer song for the senior national team, the Black Stars as they gear up for the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted by Ghana.

The song - a collaborative effort of seven top hip-life artists, entitled "Stars for the Stars" was put together by Omanye Group of Companies.

Leading the pack of seven musicians are Obrafour, Ofori Amponsah, Tinny, Chicago, Batman Samini, Obour and Mentor star, Adez.

The artists blended their respective unique style of singing to form a rendition that compels any listener to either get off his or her seat unto the dancing floor, tap the thumbs or feet in recognition of the tune.

Aside the promotional motives attached to the song, it is also aimed at raising funds for the activities of the team.

Launching the song, Mr Osei Bonsu Amoah, the Deputy Sector Minister expressed confidence that the song will generate massive interest in the tournament by a cross section of the soccer loving Ghanaians.

"The whole nation should also be energized by the involvement of the top musicians with the national spirit to inspire our boys to reach the skies." The Minister said.

According to Mr Amoah the song should also be able to provide a carnival atmosphere before and during the tournament, encourage the team to conquer every opponent, unite and celebrate Ghana and to raise funds for the team.

Mr Amoah expressed appreciation to the Omanye Group of Companies for providing funds for the project as well as the musicians for contributing to the success of the song.

Mr Arnold Asarfo Adjei, Chief Executive of Omanye Group of Companies revealed that as part of the fund raising exercise, his outfit was also embarking on concerts in the four venue cities of Accra, Kumasi, Sekondi and Tamale and climax the programme with another show in London.

He said this is also to whet the appetite of Ghanaians for the success of hosting the tournament.
