Baah-Wiredu is a trusted and dedicated Minister - Civil
Servants
Accra, Sept. 26, Ghanadot/GNA - The Civil
Servants Association, Ghana (CSA), has described the late Mr
Kwadwo Baah-Wiredu, former Minister of Finance and Economic
Panning as trusted, hardworking, God fearing, a gentleman
and dedicated Minister.
A tribute, the Association carried in a press statement
said, Mr Baah-Wiredu “was a friend, humble, good listener, a
team player, very understanding whose doors were always
opened. It is difficult to find words to even describe him,”
it said.
Mr James E. Amissah, Acting Executive Secretary of the
Association signed the statement.
The association recalled that in 2006, when civil servants
were to embark on an industrial action to press home demands
for better conditions of service and removal of distortions
and placements in the Ghana Universal Salary Structure, the
Minister intervened to remedy the situation.
“He saw it as a legitimate demand and fought for the
complete removal of the distortions and corrections of the
placements, an agreement, which brought smiles to the faces
of our members.
“He made sure the Ministry provided the resources, thereby
averting the strike action,” the statement said.
Furthermore, the association said on May 1, 2008 at the
independence square parade of workers, issues concerning
civil servants were raised and late Mr Baah-Wiredu “issued
instructions which culminated in the conclusion of the 2008
salary negotiations for the CSA.”
It concluded saying: “Indeed the CSA has lost a trusted
Minister.”
