Prof Mills to join CJA demo

Accra Dec.10 Ghanadot/GNA - Professor John Atta Mills, the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Election 2008, would participate in tomorrow's Committee for Joint Action's (CJA) "Yewuo Demonstration".

A statement by the Office of John Evans Atta Mills stated on Monday the party's flag bearer would be part of the planned demonstration.

The statement said the NDC presidential candidate "associates with the concerns of the CJA, especially the manner in which the Kufuor led NPP administration is managing the affairs of the state."

"It is highly unacceptable the manner in which a small section of the populace is living in extreme opulence whiles the vast majority of Ghanaians wallow in abject poverty."

The statement urged NDC supporters and all well-meaning Ghanaians to pour out in their numbers tomorrow morning to demonstrate for the NPP government to know that it was given the mandate to better the lot of Ghanaians and not to turn them into paupers.

"The power is yours. When the people honour you by putting you in government then they have asked you to make life better for the people of this country. But when the politicians get into government and they forget the people, and impoverish the people, politicians must know that Ghanaians will vote them out of power."

The statement said NDC expected the people of Ghana to let President Kufuor know that he could not preach virtue and practice vice and that he and his NPP government should be told that they "cannot take Ghanaians for granted".
