Israeli club says no to Don Bortey

Accra, Jan 5, Ghanadot/GNA – Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club Limited may not be able to use the services of one of their longest serving players, Bernard Don Bortey in the ongoing Glo Premier League.

This follows the refusal of the Israeli Football Association to release the International Transfer Certificate (ITC) of the player who had a short stint with Israeli side Bnei Sakhnin.

According to information gathered by the GNA Sports, the Israeli side insisted on Don Bortey completing his one year loan deal with them before the release of the Certificate.

A letter sent to the secretariat of Hearts, signed by the Deputy Chief Executive of Sakhnin, Rotam Kamer said Sakhnin wants the player to respect the one year contract between him and the club.

The letter however stated that Hearts has the option of renegotiating for the release of the player from the Israeli Club if they so desire.

Don Bortey signed a one year loan deal with Sakhnin last June after an impressive outing on the local scene.
The contract is scheduled to end in May this year and the player is bound to the contract till its expiration.

The demand of the Israeli club has however compelled Hearts to suspend the chase of the player temporary.

Don Bortey was expected to beef up the attacking machinery of the Phobians for this soccer season as Hearts seeks to make a better impact in the ongoing Premier League.

The player has since been flirting with Hearts with the aim of re-launching his career after he left the Israeli club late last year.
