Corporate world continue to lend support to Black Stars for fifth title quest

Accra, Oct 29, Ghanadot/GNA - The preparation of the Black Stars for the Ghana 2008 Africa Cup of Nations continue to receive major boost with several donations in kind and cash from the corporate world.


The latest to join the tall list of corporate institutions supporting the quest of the Stars for a record equalling fifth continental title are Continental Commodity Trading Company (CCTC) and Universal Hospitals Group Limited (UHGL).


At a brief ceremony on Monday at the Secretariat of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), CCTC, the official Meal Sponsors of the Black Stars presented a cheque for GH¢50,000 (500 million cedis) to the team whilst UHGL donated gym equipment worth GH¢31, 000 (310 million cedis).


Presenting the cheque to the GFA President, Mr Ahmed Halawi, Deputy Managing Director of CCTC said the amount represents part of their financial commitment forming part of their sponsorship for the Stars.


CCTC who have sponsored the Stars for the past two years, also launched a mass media campaign to support the Stars during next years Africa Cup of Nations.


Samuel Patrick Oduro, Executive Chairman of UHGL also presented four different ultra-modern exercise equipments namely made up of En-Dynamics Leg Press, En-Dynamic Pull Down, Compressor and Endomed 682.


He said the equipment are meant to boost the fitness level of the players and would be crucial to their chances of winning the African Cup of Nations.


Kwesi Nyantakyi, GFA President who received the donations on behalf of the Association urged other corporate institutions to emulate the example of the donors.
