Amputees soccer gear up for World Cup competition
Accra, Nov. 3, Ghanadot/GNA - The National Amputee Soccer
team have been assured that all assistance would be accorded
them to win the ultimate at the World Amputee Soccer
championship slated for Turkey.
They have therefore been urged to be serious with their
training regimen and ensure that they put up their best
performance to justify their record as the best amputee in
the African continent.
Mr Charles Aryee, Administrative Manager of the National
Sports Council (NSC) said this when he interacted with the
team at their training session at the Prison Complex,
Cantonments on Friday.
He conveyed the best wishes and prayers of the Ministry of
Education, Science and Sports and the NSC to the team as
they prepare towards the mundial later in the year.
Mr Aryee said it is the wish of the ministry and the entire
nation that the team would perform to the best of their
ability to annex the ultimate golf medal of the competition.
He advised them to be serious with their training, be
disciplined and ensure that they comport themselves as
worthy ambassadors of the country by flying high the flag of
Ghana at the World championship.
Mr Aryee said all efforts are being made to ensure they are
in the best frame of mind to excel and to this end all the
necessary facilities would be accorded them including they
have the best kit for the championship before their
departure.
Officials of the team gave the assurance that the team was
well placed to annex the ultimate trophy and so the team is
undertaken a vigorous training to ensure they are in the
best frame of mind to achieve the needed success and to
continue with their victory story as the first African
amputee soccer champions.
Meanwhile Emmanuel Educational Foundation and Sports Academy
the Physically Challenged based in Koforidua has donated 10
footballs, arm clutches, sheen guards boots and five million
cedis to the Amputee team.
Mr Marthin Agyekum Boakye, Administrative Director of the
Foundation who made the donation said it was meant to
motivate the team to put their best performance at the world
championship.
The team captain, Ofosu Yeboah thanked the Foundation for
their kind gesture and assured that they would come tops at
the World championship.
