Abedi Pele to tour 12 countries with CAN trophy

Accra, Nov 7, Ghanadot/GNA- Ghana's soccer legend, Abedi Pele Ayew would tour 12 African countries with the African Cup of Nations trophy as part of the programmes lined up to hype Ghana 2008.


The Maestro's tour, which is being sponsored by Stanbic Bank, would take him to countries qualified for 26th edition of the competition as well those which did not qualify.


His first point of call is Uganda where he is expected to preach one massage- Ghana 2008 African Cup Of Nations.


The three-time African Best Footballer would intensify his message on the competition by reaching many lovers of the globular leather across the continent ahead of the tournament, which promises to be the best ever.


The tour by Abedi, who captained Ghana's Black Stars from 1992 to 1998, would enable the football lovers of the 12 countries to have a personal experience with the Nations Cup trophy.


He would also update the countries on Ghana's preparation and preparedness for the envisaged one million visitors during the January 20 - February 10, Championship.


The former Ghanaian international would also announce exciting plans and special programmes for qualified countries and visitors to the tournament.
