STORRS, Conn. - UConn defender, Kwame Watson-Siriboe, was named one of 34 of the nation's top men's college soccer finalists for the Soccer News Net Player of the Year Award.

The editors of each of the six sites in the Soccer News Net network nominated up to six local players for the award, each of which will be eligible for the Regional Player of the Year award.

The nominations included athletes playing at colleges within each site's coverage area, as well as athletes from the area playing collegiately elsewhere in the country. A dozen additional at-large selections rounded out the nominations.

Fans from across the country will be able to vote for the top collegiate player. Voting began on Tuesday, Nov. 17 and will continue until Dec. 19, and will be conducted on New England Soccer News by CLICKING (www.newenglandsoccernews.com).

Along with the New England site, Los Angeles, Dallas, New York, Chicago and Philadelphia will also be conducting voting.

You may vote as often as possible

Online fan voting will account for 40% of the total toward the award as the remaining 60% of the vote will be cast by the editorial staffs of the six web sites.

You may vote as much as you want. We reserve the right to discard any unfair voting.

Why Vote for Kwame Watson-Siriboe?
Watson-Siriboe was named the BIG EAST Conference Defender of the Year and was an All-BIG EAST First Team selection. The Huskies' backline allowed only 10 goals in 19 games while posting 13 shutouts. He scored three goals, including the game-winner against nationally-ranked St. John's and earned two Player of the Week honors throughout the season.
