Hearts of Oak thrashes Liberty Professionals
Masahudu Ankiilu Kunateh, Ghanadot
Accra, March 22, Ghanadot - This week Glo Premier League
matches played showed a lot of surprises. As one of the
mighty teams, Asante Kotoko was sent crumbling.
However, Accra Hearts of Oak, “the never say die boys”
maintained a firm grip on top of the Glo Premier League
after thrashing city rivals Liberty Professionals 3:1 in
the penultimate Round One games.
The win at the Ohene Djan Stadium in Accra puts Hearts
at 32 points, followed by enterprising Kpando Heart of
Lions, themselves 3:0 winners against visiting Eleven
Wise at Kpando.
At Abrankesse near Kumasi, defending Champions Asante
Kotoko was handed a one-nil defeat by Kessben FC,
coached by Bashiru Hayford who recently lost his job at
Kotoko. Baba Iddi was the lone goal hero in a game many
predicted Hayford might approach with revenge as a
motivation.
Sekondi Hasaacas also won big at the Essipon Stadium,
dispatching Sporting Mirren by 3:1, while striker
Stephen Amankwa powered Berekum Arsenals to a 2:0 win
over Tema Youth at the Golden City Park.
King Faisal also came from a goal down to pip Wa All
Stars by 2:1 at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi,
while struggling Ashantigold and Bechem Chelsea
settled for a one-all draw at the Len Clay Stadium
in Obuasi.
