Accra, Jan 21, Ghanadot - Baring
any last minute hitches,Ghana's Black Stars will on Sunday
play with their Angolan counterpart in the quarterfinal
stage of the 27th African Cup of Nations which is currently
on-going at Angola but report reaching Ghanadot has it that,
the Ghanaian contingents are being intimidated by the
Angolans.
According to the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr Rashid
Pelpuo, the Angolan media has invaded the hotel that the
Ghanaian team is lodging and with few security men present,
the privacy of the players and the entire team is under
threat.
Also, there has been a reported case of assault where a
Ghanaian supporter by name Obour was beaten by some
supporters of the Angolan national team.
According to the report, Obour who is famous for painting
his skin with the Ghana national colours whilst carrying on
his head a pot with raging fire caught the wrath of the
Angolan supporters when they suspected him to be the
spiritual leader of the team. The attackers of Obour were of
the view that the pot on his head with the raging fire had
been doing the magic for the Black Stars and the only way to
stop him from performing another magic to enable the Black
Stars defeat the Angolans was to beat him and break the pot.
In a radio interview this morning, Obour confirmed the
ordeal he went through in the hands of the Angolan
Supporters and said he had visited the hospital for
treatment and had been discharged.
Meanwhile, Mr Rashid Pelpou has lodged official complaint
with the Confederation of African Union (CAF) over the
harassment and intimidation tactics that Angolans want to
employ even before the kick off on Sunday.
CAF according to report has responded sharply and has beefed
up security at the Ghana's camp.
