Press Release

Office of Nana Akufo-Addo

August 01, 2014

AKUFO-ADDO SUSPENDS CAMPAIGN AHEAD OF LIMITED VOTER REGISTRATION EXERCISE

Ahead of the August 4 to August 13, 2014 limited registration exercise of new and eligible voters as announced by the Electoral Commission, Nana Akufo-Addo has suspended his campaign for the flagbearership of the New Patriotic Party within this period.

This is to enable polling station, constituency and regional party executives remain focused ahead of this exercise. Despite the legitimate concerns raised by Nana Akufo-Addo about the credibility of our current voters' register, the suspension of the campaign, nonetheless, is to enable party executives across the country prepare and remain vigilant during the registration period, so as to ensure that only eligible voters get their names onto the electoral register.

Nana Akufo-Addo was scheduled to be in the Brong Ahafo, Ashanti, Eastern and Volta regions from August 3 to August 10. Campaigning in these regions have, therefore, been rescheduled and the new dates communicated to the regions.

Nana Akufo-Addo's campaign will resume on August 14, ahead of the Special Electoral College scheduled to take place on August 31, with the Eastern Region being the first point of call.
