Ghana Health Service organizes
workshop on TB at Tepa
Tepa (Ash), March 29, GNA - The Ghana Health Service (GHS)
in the Ahafo-Ano North District recorded 37 tuberculosis
(TB) cases, representing 14.1 per cent of 261 expected
cases in 2006.
Nana Adu Bobie, the District Disease Control Officer,
said this at a two-day workshop on TB organized by the
District Health Directorate for its staff drawn from
health institutions at Tepa on Wednesday.
He attributed the shortfall to inadequate public
education and the failure of the public to report cases
at health institutions.
Mrs Elizabeth Danso Adentwi, the District Director of
Health Service, appealed to the participants to step up
education on the disease in communities since many
people did not know their status and failed to report at
hospitals for treatment.
